Florham Park's July 4th Celebration
The Florham Park 4th of July Parade is one of the oldest parades in New Jersey. Initiated in 1894, it was reinstated by the Florham Park Volunteer Fire Department in 1957 and in 1979 a committee was organized to continue this proud day. On July 4th, 2007, Florham Park celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Parade!
If you are interested in helping in with the July 4th Celebration-donations, committee members, volunteers, general clean-up, food-service-let us know!

Annual Menorah Lighting
The Annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony date for 2012 will be announced. As usual, it will be held at the Gazebo on the Great Lawn of the Municipal Complex. Rabbi Kenneth M. Tarlow, spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Torah in Florham Park, will lead the community in lighting the Hanukkah candle with the assistance of the children from Congregation Beth Torah's Religious School. Rabbi Shalom Luben, of Chabad of SE Morris County, will also participate.
The lighting of the Hanukkah Menorah is always a festive occasion. It is accompanied by the singing of songs; playing with the "dreidel," a 4 sided top; and eating the traditional "latkes", a potato pancake fried in oil. Hanukkah is the eight day celebration of the victory of the Maccabees over the Assyrians in the Second Century CE and the resulting reconsecration of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem. On each successive night of this holiday one additional candle on the Menorah, an eight branch candelabrum, is lit to recall the story of how a single vial of Eternal Light oil, found in the Temple when it was reclaimed and designed to burn for just one day, miraculously burned for a full 8 days. We hope you can join us for this special occasion!
