The Recreation Department's goal is to provide a wide-range of leisure and athletic programs, as well as bus trips, to Florham Park residents of all ages. The Recreation Department offers activities year-round
for residents of all ages:
Kiddie Klasses
Arts and crafts workshops, cooking classes, and holiday-themed activities are offered seasonally for children ages 1 ½ - 2 ½, and for those in PreK-3 through 2nd grade. Classes may include Me and My Shadow, A Step Up, Creative Cupcake, Fall Arts and Crafts, Gingerbread and Holiday Crafts, Romp N Roll, Paint Explorations, Carpentry, Dress Up Divas, Easter Crafts, St. Patrick's Day Crafts, Mother's Day Crafts, Music Makesrs, Sticky Fingers, Thanksgiving Cooking Art, Winter Cooking, Cherished Gifts, Baskets, Balls and Bases, Calling All Chefs, and more! Registration forms will be available throughout the year in school packets and at the Community Center.
Bus Trips
The Recreation Department chaperones residents on trips to popular Broadway shows in New York City several times per year. A late fall trip to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an annual tradition. If you have suggestions for trips to Broadway shows, museums, and professional sporting events, or if you would like to be added to the Recreation Department mailing list, please call (973) 410-5390.
Discount Tickets
Each winter, the Recreation Department sells discounted tickets to the following ski areas: Camelback, Shawnee Mountain, Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Blue Mountain, and Mountain Creek. Each summer, the Recreation Department sells discounted tickets to the following amusement parks: Dorney Park, Mountain Creek, Camelbeach, Hershey Park, Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor, and Sesame Place. Tickets can be purchased at the Community Center by check or money order only. A driver's license is required. Call (973) 410-5390 for prices.
Summer Movie Night
The annual summer outdoor movie will feature a fun family film shown on a jumbo screen on the Great Lawn at the Municipal Complex. The movie will be free, and open to all residents, family, and friends. Bring blankets or chairs! Refreshments will be sold. The movie will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, following National Night Out. The movie title will be announced shortly.
Coaching Certification
As a partner of the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council, the Recreation Department offers S.A.F.E.T.Y. certification clinics for volunteer coaches. Clinics are held at the Florham Park Community Center several times per year, as well as in surrounding towns. Recreation Activities for Disabled Residents
The Recreation Department is a member of the Morris County Adaptive Recreation Program (McARP). It provides recreational services for persons of all ages with disabilities. McARP gives Florham Park residents opportunities to explore new leisure time skills in conjunction with their age and ability.
