The Recreation Department's goal is to provide a wide-range of leisure and athletic programs, as well as bus trips, to Florham Park residents of all ages. We work to offer safe, enjoyable, and affordable services to the entire community. Please share your feedback with us to help us improve our programs.

The Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Public Works Department, oversees the Community Center and the Senior Center, as well as parks, fields, and playgrounds throughout Florham Park. Jerry Gibson Memorial Youth Summer Theater

Co-sponsored by the Florham Park Players and the Florham Park Recreation Department, the Jerry Gibson Memorial Youth Summer Theater celebrated its 31st season in 2011. Each summer, the popular musical production gives an opportunity to 50-60 local children between the ages of 13-19 to develop their theatrical talents. Try-outs will be held in early-June 2012, and shows will be performed in late-July 2012. Teen Nights

Teen Nights give Florham Park residents in 6th grade and above the chance to hang out with their friends in a supervised environment. Past activities have included a semi-pro basketball game, ice skating, galactic bowling, cooking class, martial arts class, kick boxing class, summer concert, movie night, and pool night. Teen Nights are held periodically throughout the year, and are free of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Teen Nights are sponsored by the Recreation Department, and are supported by the Public Library and PTA. Millburn Golf Course Memberships

Until August 1st of each year, the Recreation Department sells non-resident memberships to the Millburn Municipal Par 3 Golf Course. "Unlimited” and “limited” memberships are available. Members must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a membership. The course is located at 303 White Oak Ridge Road in Millburn. Bus Trips

The Recreation Department chaperones residents on trips to popular Broadway shows in New York City each Spring, and to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular each November. If you have suggestions for trips to Broadway shows, museums, and professional sporting events, or if you would like to be added to the Recreation Department mailing list, please call (973) 410-5390.

Outdoor Movie Night

Mark your calendars! The annual outdoor summer movie is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2012. A popular family film will be presented on a jumbo screen on the Gazebo Lawn at the Municipal Complex. The movie is free, and is open to all residents, family, and friends. More information will be available soon.

Rutgers Coach Training

As a partner of the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council, the Recreation Department offers S.A.F.E.T.Y. clinics for volunteer coaches. Clinics are held at the Community Center several times per year, as well as in surrounding towns. For a complete list of future clinics statewide, visit http://youthsports.rutgers.edu.

Recreation Activities for Disabled Residents

The Recreation Department is a member of the Morris County Adaptive Recreation Program (McARP). It provides recreational services for persons of all ages with disabilities. McARP gives Florham Park residents opportunities to explore new leisure time skills in conjunction with their age and ability. To learn about available services, call McARP at (973) 455-1288. Mayor's wellness Campaign


The Mayor’s Wellness Campaign develops and implements active-living initiatives and special events. The ultimate goal of the Mayor's Wellness Campaign is to improve health and reduce the skyrocketing health care costs that come with the obesity problem in New Jersey. Florham Park is one of over twenty municipalities in Morris County pledged to support this goal. Click here for more information.

Florham Park Athletic Foundation

The Florham Park Athletic Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is dedicated to improving and adding recreational locations in the borough. Its current goal is to construct the proposed 26-acre Elm Street Recreation Complex. For more information, please contact Robert Ramsthaler at rramsthaler@gmail.com. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Elm Street Recreation Complex


The Elm Street Recreation Complex is proposed for 26 acres between Elm Street and Route 24 West. The planned multi-use park will include walking and biking trails; lacrosse, football, and soccer fields; baseball and softball diamonds; a playground; and other active and passive recreational components. Information on the history of this project is available in the Recreation Master Plan, a copy of which is located at the Library reference desk.

Youth Protective Eyewear

According to state law, any child who wears prescription eyeglasses while participating in a recreation sports program is required to wear shatterproof protective eyewear that meets federal standards. Contact the Recreation Department at (973) 410-5390 for more information.

Dog and Alcohol Ordinances


Please note that according to Ordinance #12-91, dogs may not be brought onto Florham Park playing fields or open recreational areas. According to Ordinance #11-74, alcohol may not be consumed or distributed on Florham Park playing fields or open recreational areas. Locations include – but are not limited to – the Municipal Complex, Emmett Park, Dale Anderson Jaycees Tot Lot, Stobaeus Park, and Beechcrest Park.
